🚀 New JDownloader Integration Available / Download and Upload speed significantly increased
Open encrypted cryptfiles.cloud links directly in JDownloader, decrypt them locally, and download them more conveniently + Downloads and uploads are now much faster!
JDownloader can now handle cryptfiles.cloud links directly.
With the new JDownloader integration, encrypted share links can now be added directly to JDownloader 2, decrypted locally, and downloaded conveniently.
The key always remains exclusively on your device. In addition, downloads and uploads have been further optimized to make transfers more efficient and noticeably smoother.
✨ New Features
⬇️ Dedicated JDownloader Plugin Download
There is now a dedicated JDownloader page on cryptfiles.cloud including plugin download and installation instructions.
The plugin is provided as a ZIP file and can be manually integrated into an existing JDownloader 2 installation.
We are currently working on getting the plugin officially added to JDownloader!
🚀 Significantly Improved Upload and Download Speed
In addition, the general upload and download speed on cryptfiles.cloud has been improved noticeably once again.
Transfers now run faster, more stable, and more efficiently overall, making both large uploads and everyday downloads feel smoother in practice.
Alongside new functionality, targeted optimizations to the transfer workflows were also implemented to achieve this.
🔐 Zero-Knowledge Remains Intact
The new integration follows the existing zero-knowledge principle:
- The DEK stays in the URL fragment (
#...) - The URL fragment is never sent to the server
- JDownloader reads the key locally
- Decryption happens locally on the device
That means the server still cannot access the file contents without the key.
🧩 Direct Handling of Encrypted Shares
The plugin can directly process cryptfiles.cloud share links.
During the process:
- the share information is taken from the link
- the file manifest is loaded
- the encrypted chunks are downloaded
- all chunks are decrypted locally
- the file is correctly reassembled inside JDownloader
This keeps the integration fully compatible with the existing encrypted download model of cryptfiles.cloud.
⚡ “Open in JDownloader” Button on Share Pages
A new “Open in JDownloader” button is now available on share pages.
This allows the full link, including the fragment, to be passed directly to a locally running JDownloader instance via Click’n’Load.
That removes the need to copy links manually.
👤 Account Connection via API Token
JDownloader can now also be connected to a cryptfiles.cloud account.
Inside JDownloader, you can use:
- your email address as the username
- and an API token as the password
This allows JDownloader to retrieve the account status and apply available fair-use or bandwidth information.
Premium and Pro accounts benefit from higher limits.
🛠 Technical Improvements
Alongside the new JDownloader integration, transfer workflows have also been improved further.
- New JDownloader plugin integration
- Direct download of encrypted shares in JDownloader
- Local decryption within the zero-knowledge model
- “Open in JDownloader” button via Click’n’Load
- Account connection via API token
- Optimizations for upload and download workflows
- Faster and more efficient transfer processes
📦 Update Summary
The new JDownloader integration makes downloading encrypted files significantly more convenient.
Instead of managing links manually, users can now send their cryptfiles.cloud shares directly to JDownloader 2 and process them there without giving up the zero-knowledge model.
At the same time, uploads and downloads have been further optimized to make transfers more efficient and performant overall.
Why this update matters
This update combines convenience with security:
- simple handoff to JDownloader
- local decryption without key disclosure
- better integration for power users
- optimized transfer workflows for uploads and downloads
