📦 Expanded Storage: Keep uploading even when your storage is full

Full storage does not automatically mean uploads stop at CryptFiles.
With Expanded Storage, you can keep uploading beyond your regular storage quota — up to 3× your plan quota. While you are over quota, shorter automatic deletion periods apply.

📦 Keep uploading after reaching your quota

Many file hosts block new uploads as soon as the booked storage quota is reached.

With Expanded Storage, CryptFiles works differently:

• Uploads remain possible above your regular quota
• you can upload up to 3× your plan quota
• only after exceeding this upper limit are new uploads blocked
• downloads and streaming remain unlimited on all plans

➡️ Reaching your normal storage limit no longer causes an immediate hard block in the middle of your workflow.

⏱️ Shorter deletion period while over quota

Expanded Storage does not permanently increase the storage included in your plan.

As long as you are above your regular quota, a shorter automatic deletion period applies based on the last download:

• Free: 4 days after the last download
• Premium: 7 days after the last download
• Pro: 7 days after the last download

Normally, the period is 12 months.

➡️ You get additional upload headroom while CryptFiles can bring your used storage back within your regular quota.

🔄 Every download extends the deadline

Files that are downloaded regularly are effectively not affected by the shorter period as long as they continue to be accessed.

That is because:

Every download pushes the applicable deadline back again.

A file is therefore not deleted simply because your account is temporarily over quota. What matters is how long it has gone without being downloaded.

🧹 Predictable deletion order

If several files become due for deletion at the same time while you are still over quota, CryptFiles does not delete files randomly.

The most recently uploaded files are deleted first — and only as many as necessary to bring your used storage back within your regular quota.

➡️ This makes it clear which files may be affected first if automatic cleanup becomes necessary.

↩️ Back under quota? The normal period applies again

As soon as your used storage is below your regular quota again, the normal automatic deletion period of 12 months since the last download applies to your files.

The shorter period therefore only applies while your account is actually above its regular storage limit.

🧮 Example

In the current example, a Free plan has a quota of 10 GB.

• At 9 GB used, you are below quota → deletion period without download: 12 months
• At 13 GB used, you are above quota but still below the Expanded Storage upper limit → deletion period without download: 4 days

You can therefore keep uploading after your regular quota has been exceeded, while the Expanded Storage rules apply until you are back below your normal limit.

Expanded Storage removes the abrupt upload stop that usually comes with a full cloud storage quota.

You get additional headroom above your actual plan quota, with clear rules for how long files can remain there without another download and how cleanup works when required.
