Expanded Storage: Keep uploading instead of hitting an instant storage wall
Storage full? With Expanded Storage, CryptFiles lets you keep uploading up to 3× your plan quota. Files while you are over quota simply follow a shorter, clearly defined retention window.
Expanded Storage makes CryptFiles storage limits more flexible: above your regular plan quota, uploads remain available up to 3× that quota. Instead of an immediate stop, shorter retention windows apply while you remain over quota.
Expanded Storage creates a controlled buffer. As long as your usage stays at or below 3× your regular plan quota, you can continue uploading. New uploads are blocked only above that upper limit.
The extra room follows a clear rule: while your account is over its regular quota, files use a shorter automatic retention window measured from the last download — 4 days on Free and 7 days on Premium and Pro. Downloading a file again resets its window. Once your usage returns within quota, the normal 12-month period applies again. If several files become due at the same time, the most recently uploaded files are removed first, and only as many as needed to bring usage back within quota.

Expanded Storage benefits
Up to 3× storage headroom
Temporarily use substantially more storage than your regular plan quota without uploads stopping the instant you hit 100%.
No hard block at the regular limit
Keep uploading above your plan quota until you reach the clearly defined 3× upper limit.
Clear retention windows
While over quota, the window is 4 days on Free and 7 days on Premium and Pro from the last download.
Downloads reset the window
Download a file again and its shorter over-quota window automatically starts fresh.
Predictable cleanup order
If multiple files become due together, the most recently uploaded files are removed first — only as many as necessary.
Back within quota, back to normal
As soon as storage usage returns within quota, the normal 12-month period applies again.
Built for real file workflows where storage demand is not perfectly predictable
Large projects, backups, media files or a temporary upload spike do not always fit neatly into a fixed quota. Expanded Storage gives you room to keep uploading, clean up or upgrade instead of failing the next upload the moment the meter hits 100%.
Storage full? Your upload does not have to stop.
Use Expanded Storage as a controlled buffer and keep uploading up to three times your regular plan quota.
How Expanded Storage works
Use your regular plan quota
While your storage usage stays within quota, files follow the normal 12-month period without a download.
Keep uploading beyond quota
Once you exceed the regular quota, uploads can continue up to a maximum total usage of 3× your plan quota.
A shorter, transparent window applies
While you remain over quota, the automatic window since the last download is 4 days on Free and 7 days on Premium and Pro. Downloading again resets the timer.
Return within quota
Delete files, free up space or otherwise reduce usage. Once you are back within quota, the normal 12-month period applies to all files again.

As soon as usage is back within quota, the normal 12-month period without a download applies to all files again.
No. Downloads and streaming are not limited by this storage quota. Expanded Storage concerns stored data, upload availability and retention rules.
It is primarily a buffer for temporary peaks. If you stay well above your regular quota for long periods, cleaning up or upgrading is the more suitable option because the shorter over-quota retention windows remain active.
